California Law allows you to
clear your criminal conviction by withdrawing your plea and having the case
dismissed, under most circumstances. The law is somewhat complex in certain
areas, but expungement of a record is something that SHOULD be done by
anyone with even a minor history of arrest or conviction. Contrary to popular
belief, records are not "sealed" automatically with the passage of time, but
require the filing of a Petition for Relief in Court.

Under the law, a person who has successfully completed
probation shall have
the accusations against him or her dismissed and shall be released from all
penalties and disabilities resulting from the offense, except as specified
by law.
Once the criminal expungement case has been dismissed, the defendant can
truthfully assert that they have not been convicted of that offense. A
juvenile record can be sealed through the juvenile court. Once this has been
done, the offense shall be deemed never to have occurred.
